| Yesterday saw some key people change roles in the Government CareSadly Paul Burstow, who was Minister of State for Care Services, has lost his role and become a backbencher. On twitter yesterday Mr Burstow said [it was a]“privilege to serve as Care Minister: My passion for fixing social care, improvement mental health & championing Carers now from backbenches”. Mr Burstow is replaced by Norman Lamb who used to be the shadow health secretary for the Liberal Democrats. HealthAndrew Lansley has moved from his role as the Health Secretary to become the Leader of the House of Commons and is replaced by the former culture secretary Jeremy Hunt. This is a move which is questioned by many as he, apparently tried to exclude the references to the NHS in the Olympic opening ceremony, promotes homeopathy and has some controversial views on abortion. HousingGrant Shapps has been promoted from his role as Housing minister to be the Conservative Chairman, he’s been replaced by Mark Prisk. Inside Housing says that “the new housing minister has been called upon to think innovatively in taking on his ‘unenviable’ brief.” |
